Yoda's Expressions

Just like to share with you folks this 3D model of Yoda I did a year ago during my in-between-jobs period. I had so much fun modeling, creating morph-targets and tweaking my creation.

For you folks out there new to 3D animation, I recommend you give Lightwave 3D a try although we all know 3D Studio Max and Maya are the bigger players here. It's a lot easier to pick up (no icons to decipher) and the morph targets are embedded in the original mesh, unlike the rest where you have to clone the original and tweak from that. Imagine if you need to change the base mesh, you will have to manually changed the rest of the morph targets as well.

Well, for Lightwave you won't have to. Any tweak to the base mesh will propagate down to the rest of the morph-targets. Now how cool is that ?

Ogre

One of my drawings from a few months ago. This is one of the samples I sent for a job applicaton to MassiveBlack for a concept artist post recently.

Woman in Bikini

Haven't drawn a woman in bikini for ages and realized my hand has been real rusty. The first picture was deemed too "manly" by some from a local forum. The second one has been modified by upsizing the top and curvify the bottom. Face has been made rounder and less aggressive-looking as well.

Which one would you prefer ? Let me hear from you.

Woman in Cheong-sam and Cute Bunny.

This pose is copied from a Christie Chung's slimming ad in the papers.

Here's another quick doodle of a cute bunny in realtime.

Batman and Superman

One of my favourite comic book characters, Batman. I do enjoy drawing more than coloring. As you can see here, my coloring really sucks.

Superman's not one of my favourites, I must admit. But still a fun character to draw. Didn't watch the latest Superman movie cos I feel it sucks. Nobody, and I mean nobody, can ever replace the ubiquitous Christopher Reeves.

Brendan Roth just looks too Hispanic to be Superman in my opinion.

Icthyocentaur

“The Icthyocentaur has the torso, arms and head of a human, the tail of a dolphin and the forelegs of a horse or lion. This is the aquatic version of a centaur“.

I've came up with this creature for the "Creature Feature of February" in Wetcanvas.

What do you think of it ?

Yoda

My favourite little green friend from a galaxy far, far away. I love this character so much and I drew him regularly during my secondary school days. Here I drew him without any reference to pictures because Yoda is simply so deeply entrenched in my head.

Vampire Shogun

Supposingly this dude's much older than the nemesis. He's so old that he can't even have a human face and legs.

I enjoy the doodling session more and more due to the simplicity and power of Alias Sketchbook Pro. Though I must admit it took some time to for me to warm up drawing with a Wacom tablet compared to the good old pen and paper. Heck, even my little nephews and nieces are enjoying using it more than me when they came over !

Hey, don't forget the cost savings of those stationary too.

Nemesis of the Vampire Samurai

What's a good guy for if he can't kick any ass ? Well, ladies and gentlemen, enter the nemesis. Haven't got a name for him and the good guy yet. Maybe you folks can think of something ?

This baddie's supposed to be of royal blood many hundred years back. That explains the elaborate costume.

I'm getting my creative juice flowing and will have more characters coming off the assembly line, so to speak.

Vampire Samurai

I've been in technical support line for so long that I've totally neglected my doodling skills. As such, the fluidity, flexibility and spontaneity of my right hand has deteriorated a great deal. I've been using Alias Sketchbook Pro 2 for the past few weeks and this simple but powerful software has not only rekindled my interest in drawing, but also my keen goal in pursuing illustration as a second career.

My first Youtube doodle is an impression of a vampire samurai. This character has been in my mind for quite a while and I am pleased to show you the process of this doodle. Courtesy of Camtasia Studio 4.

By the way, this is the good guy. Baddie will be next.

My first post !

Hi,

This my very first post at this site. I will be showing my illustration skills here and also possibly some 3D artwork, time permitting. So please feel free to criticize or comments.

Cheers !
